I was fortunate to work at Rotten Rodneys in 86 -87…and it was THE BEST !! Loved bartending , cleaning the tables and getting free pool with my friends ! One of the best times / memory of my life !! Miss this place so much 😪
As a teenager in the early 1980’s I would ride with my Dad and his friends (which including Dave Jacoby) from Wisconsin Rapids to Madison on a school night to enter the 9 ball tournament… which had a unique “ratings” system allowing differing skill levels the chance to compete.
During one tournament I was rated only as a 2 (still a kid and previously hadn’t been THAT impressive)… but THAT night my playing was INCREDIBLE (for some reason)… and a bunch of guys were PISSED that I was only rated as a 2.
My Dad, a bunch of his friends (including Dave Jacoby) and my teenage self would make regular trips from Wisconsin Rapids to play in the 9 Ball tournaments… thinking it was on Thursday nights. We would stay until the end, go to Denny’s afterward and end up home just in time to get ready for school/ work.
Good times
